Abstract

Ointments are semi-solid dosage forms that are used topically to treat skin conditions and wounds. They contain medicaments dispersed or dissolved in suitable bases. Ointments are classified based on their composition and methods of preparation. Understanding their classification and preparation process is important for developing effective ointment formulations for various dermatological applications.
