As tourism continues to expand, the concepts of sustainable tourism and responsible tourism have emerged as critical frameworks for mitigating negative effects while maximizing benefits for both host communities and travelers. This article reviews the scientific literature on sustainable and responsible tourism, exploring definitions, principles, and practices, while also identifying key challenges and future directions for the field. The integration of sustainability and responsibility into tourism practices is essential for maintaining the long-term viability of the tourism industry and protecting the global environment and cultural heritage.
