 This article explores the importance of developing social competence in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) or English as a Second Language (ESL) classrooms. It highlights the significance of cultural awareness and understanding in fostering social competence among language learners. The article discusses key aspects of bridging cultures, such as intercultural communication, empathy, and perspective-taking. It also provides practical strategies and techniques for educators to promote social competence in the EFL/ESL classroom. By integrating cultural competence into language learning, educators can empower students to become effective communicators and global citizens.
