Abstract

European Romanticism emerged as a reaction against the rationalism and

restraint of the Enlightenment. Themes of love, nature, and the supernatural were prevalent in

Romantic literature. During the 18th and 19th centuries, European travelers and diplomats

brought back translations of Oriental literature from countries such as Persia, Turkey, and

India. These texts introduced Western audiences to exotic settings, rich imagery, and new poetic

forms. George Gordon Byron was a prominent poet and leading figure in the Romantic

movement of the early 19th century. His tumultuous life and groundbreaking works have left a

lasting impact on society and literature. This article will explore the life of Lord Byron and his

influence on the society of his time.
